Top 5 Ways to Improve Engagement with Formatting

Content formatting is one of the foremost ways to improve your user traffic, and there are many different formats to look at when considering ways to boost organic site clicks. The problem is, if you’re a person who doesn’t have a lot of time on their hands, you want to make sure that you’re using your time effectively to get the results you’re aiming for.

Now, before we get into effective formats, let’s discuss how content affects the way the reader consumes your message. While formatting is very important, the way the content is structured means nothing if the content is meaningless. However, if your content is engaging, informative, and accurate, then the chances of people sticking around and becoming customers are much better. It allows you to show yourself as an expert and trustworthy figure in the area in which you are producing content.

By showing competency and showing your audience that you know what you’re talking about, then you build up a rapport of trust and authority. However, not every type of content will catch your audience’s eye. So, in light of that, here are five different formats you can use to structure your content for best audience engagement:

  1.     Blog Posts

Blog posts for many people are usually the go-to format they think of when it comes to content marketing. The great thing about blog posts is that when they aren’t overly long and don’t have too many images, they are actually very easy to produce. But, the trick here, is that they need to be done well. When done well, they can help you build up your niche with authoritative content and they lead to other citations from other sources which can lead into better search ranking.

  1.     Videos

Nothing gets anyone’s attention better than a video. Being popular amongst most age groups, video has proven to be a very effective content strategy. In fact, Google statistics show that 40% of millennials find video to be a trustworthy source. Video is also one of the many content formats that can contribute to business revenue. Research shows that marketers who use video receive 66% more leads a year than those who don’t. Ways you can use video in your business include shooting tutorials, making explainer or introduction videos, or you could create a video showcasing your products and/or services.

  1.     Images

Probably one of the best tools a marketer can use is images. Using images can be a wonderful marketing tool because when people see images relating to something that interests them, they are more likely to share those images on social media allowing more people to become familiar with your business.

  1.     Podcasts

Now, this is a really great content format. In just the last five years, the number of people who listen to podcasts has grown exponentially and that number is only getting bigger. With a podcast, people are able to access your content at their own convenience. Podcasts are also great for repurposing already existing information. Two great examples of doing this would be taking the audio of one of your videos and making that the podcast or you could read a blog and make that the topic of your podcast episode.

  1.     Checklists

Now, if you’re looking for an easy content format, look no further than a checklist. These are actually really popular. In some cases, they attract hundreds of thousands of shares. Content such as these include worksheets, tip sheets, and cheat sheets. They can be made by pulling out key points from other types of content such as blog posts. Once that’s done, it can all be saved in a Word Document, Google Doc, or can be exported as a PDF file.
